Local tips: bring an empty suitcase to fill with all the bargains you can snap up in the lively markets in Marmaris offering a wealth of leather goods, jewellery, rugs and clothes.  Local mini-bus (dolmus) runs from morning til night and takes you from Armutalan to the centre of Marmaris, and to the beach, around 2km away.  Further afield, the most popular day trip is to Dalyan, the home of the mudbaths, Loggerhead turtles and Lycian Rocktombs which is just over an hour's drive away.
