The historical hotel has 16 bedroom apartments, 5 granite-paved courtyards, 7 staircases and 220 windows. The paradigm Chinese courtyard house has been embellished with Chinese timber carvings and porcelain works, as well as Gothic louvered windows and art nouveau stained-glass panels. The establishment is an edifice of impressive delicacy and awesome in its feng shui subtleties. This inner-city mansion was acquired in 1990 in an extremely dilapidated state. A restoration was carried out and culminated in the project being judged the winner in the UNESCO Heritage 2000 Awards.
