Seefeld Introduction

Seefeld is a delightful village in the Tyrol close to Innsbruck. Located on a plateau surrounded by pine clad hills at an altitude of twelve hundred metres, Seefeld is a chic resort with much to offer the non-skier as well as the skier. The resort has three main ski areas which separate the different ability levels and offer good terrain for all. Lifts from the village take skiers to the slopes and there is also a funicular railway and a cable car. There is a snow park for boarders. Ski schools provide comprehensive tuition in both skiing and boarding from the ages of four and eight respectively.

Seefeld has a good range of accommodation catering for most budgets. There are many first class hotels, apartments and chalets. There are also many restaurants providing a diverse cuisine that caters for all tastes and pockets. Seefeld has a good number of shops and if more are needed Innsbruck is only a few miles away. Nightlife is fairly low key with larger hotels providing evening entertainment.

Seefeld - The Place

Seefeld is a relaxed and very beautiful village located close to the Tyrolean capital Innsbruck. The centre of the town is car-free with transport provided by horse drawn sleighs. The winter Olympics have been held in Seefeld on two occasions. At an altitude of twelve hundred metres Seefeld offers good conditions for all levels of skiing and snowboarding ability. The resort is ideal for beginners as its gentle wooded slopes provide three quarters of the pistes. There is limited terrain for advanced skiers who need to try the higher runs on the Rosshutte and Harmelekopf. A ski bus takes visitors to the Rosshutte mountain railway. Intermediate skiers will enjoy the red and blue runs the Gschwandtkopf. Cross country skiers have two hundred and fifty kilometres of trails. There is a snow park for boarders with a half pipe and some exciting terrain. Lifts provide easy access to the slopes. The ski school offers tuition in skiing from four years and boarding from eight years. There is also a kindergarten for children from three years.

Seefeld has a wide range of accommodation including a number of five star hotels. There are hotels and apartments to suit all budgets and restaurants catering for all tastes and pockets. Although there are a good number of shops in the village there is a distinct lack of specialist stores and boutiques. However a short bus journey will take you to Innsbruck which is a shopper’s delight. Although Seefeld nightlife is relaxed there are a number of lively pubs and bars which offer music and dance.
