Santo Tomas Holidays

Santo Tomas Holidays

Santo Tomas Introduction

Santo Tomas on the southern coast of Minorca is twenty miles from the airport. Although there are many hotels and apartments in Santo Tomas, it remains a peaceful resort. It has a long narrow beach which was depleted of sand during a wild storm in 1989. The present pale golden sand was imported from elsewhere.

Why go to Santo Tomas

Enjoy the unspoiled family resort of Santo Tomas with its golden sands and water sports. At Santa Thomas visitors can relax in the friendly atmosphere and enjoy their holiday in the sun.

A Santo Tomas holiday appeals to families with young children looking for a quiet time on the beach. It is also popular with older couples looking for relaxing days in the sun followed by warm, mellow evenings. The beach has a range of water sporting facilities which attracts the more energetic holiday maker.

When To Go To Santo Tomas

The holiday season in Santo Tomas begins in April and lasts until late October with temperatures ranging from the twenties to the mid thirties.

Santo Tomas - The Place

Santo Tomas is one of the best family resorts on the island. It is a very quiet resort in an unspoiled area of Minorca. It lies to the west of Son Bou and is only separated from it by a headland. A path to the west leads to the smaller beaches of Sant Adeodato and Binigaus. Care must be taken when swimming as there are dangerous currents in the bay. Be sure to watch the flags and, for your own safety, only swim when the green flag is flying. A Santo Tomas holiday provides visitors with sun, golden sand and warm clear water where it is easy to unwind. The long beach (the second longest in island) shelves gently into the sea and is a firm favourite with families. There are many facilities for water sports including sailing, wind surfing and diving. The resort has two commercial centres which cater for the essential needs of the holiday maker.

Santo Tomas Nightlife

The nightlife in the quiet resort of Santo Tomas is very low key. Much of the evening entertainment is hotel based. There are a number of bars and restaurants in Santo Tomas but no night clubs. Those looking for a little livelier time will find that Son Bou, just over the headland to the east of Santo Tomas, has a greater number of bars and boasts a disco.

Santo Tomas Shopping

The two commercial centres in Sant Tomas supply the essential needs of the holiday maker from food and drink to beach mats and inflatables. There are also a number of gift and souvenir shops. For more serious shoppers Mahon, with its excellent range of boutiques and specialist shops is only twenty miles away.

Santo Tomas Eating

Santo Tomas has a range of bars and restaurants providing a good choice of menu and accommodating most tastes. The island is well known for its delicious fish dishes fresh from the morning catch. Wines are pleasant and good value. As is usual in Spanish countries, children are warmly welcomed in restaurants.
