San Augustin Introduction
San Augustin is on the south coast of Gran Canaria north east of Maspalomas. It is a small resort with a sheltered beach and waters that are ideal for wind surfing. The nightlife is very low key reflecting the family nature of the resort.

San Augustin - The Place
San Augustin, on the south coast of Gran Canaria, is a small peaceful resort with a few large hotels and whitewashed apartments. It has three small sheltered beaches of dark sand and shale. Although the beaches shelve gently into the sea it must be remembered that there are strong undercurrents which can be dangerous. The area is perfect for wind surfing.
The ocean around Gran Canaria has ideal conditions for whale and dolphin spotting and for big game fishing where it is possible to catch blue marlins weighing hundreds of pounds.
Bordering the beach is a pretty promenade planted with shady palms and flower beds. There are many waterfront bars and restaurants where daylong refreshments are available.
Many of the islands attractions are found near San Augustin including the very popular Aqualand. With over thirty slides including the Anaconda and the Tornado it appeals to both children and adults alike. Here you can actually swim with sea lions.
Holiday world is a theme park with exciting rides and there is a go-karting track.
Inland Gran Canaria is well worth exploring with its stunning scenery and charming old villages. Jeep safaris to Mount Tejeda are an ideal way to explore the island.

The nightlife in San Augustin is rather relaxed and mainly hotel based. Evenings can be enjoyed in comfortable bars and restaurants over a tasty meal and a glass of wine. There is a casino for those who like to indulge in a holiday flutter.

Although there are a few shops and boutiques in San Augustin those who wish to take advantage of the island’s low taxes should take a bus to neighbouring Playa del Ingles. San Augustin has the usual supply of gift and souvenir shops where you can purchase your holiday mementoes.
San Augustin Eating
San Augustin has many small bars and family run restaurants serving a wide variety of food and catering for most tastes. Tapas bars provide welcome sustenance in the long hours between lunch and dinner which is generally served much later than in Britain. Traditional fish restaurants serving their ‘catch of the day’ special is usually very good value.
