Meloneras Introduction

Meloneras is an upmarket resort close to Maspalomas and Playa del Ingles, on the southern coast of Gran Canaria. It is a very attractive, modern resort providing high quality amenities. Indeed, many of the hotels could be described as palatial. Meloneras has a good sandy beach and is also close to the renowned dunes of Maspalomas with its acres of fine sand and warm clear waters. The resort has excellent restaurants and shops that include exclusive boutiques in their number. A Meloneras holiday offers a guarantee of sunshine, luxurious surroundings and a wealth of recreational activities both in and out of the water.

Why Go To Meloneras?

Meloneras offers relaxation on sandy beaches washed by warm, clear waters. It is a delightful resort where the comfort and satisfaction of visitors is paramount. Everything about the resort has an air of luxury, from the five-star hotels to the bungalow complexes, and from the restaurants to the small boutiques. If you wish to relax and be pampered, book a Meloneras holiday now.

Meloneras appeals mainly to families with young children looking for a seaside holiday where good weather is assured. It is also popular with golfers and couples of all ages.

When To Go To Meloneras

Meloneras is a year round holiday destination having pleasantly hot summers and warm winters. It is an ideal place to go for winter golf.

Meloneras - The Place

Meloneras is a rather exclusive resort on the southern coast of Gran Canaria. This modern village provides some wonderful first class hotels and upmarket bungalow complexes. The streets and gardens are a delight, being filled with palms, cacti and a variety of flowering plants. The long sandy beach lapped by clear blue Atlantic waters is a great attraction. Although the sand shelves gently into the sea remember that it is a great ocean, and there can be strong under currents. Care must be taken of children, and less confident swimmers should swim parallel to the shore. An Attractive promenade frames the beach. It has many cafes, bars and shops providing day long refreshments. Meloneras restaurants provide a diverse cuisine and cater for most tastes.

Meloneras offers many recreational facilities including an eighteen hole golf course. Remember to bring your handicap certificate as this is sometimes a course requirement.

The ocean around Gran Canaria has ideal conditions for whale and dolphin spotting and for big game fishing where it is possible to catch blue marlins weighing hundreds of pounds.

Many of the islands attractions are found near Meloneras including the very popular Aqualand. With over thirty slides including the Anaconda and the Tornado it appeals to both children and adults alike. Holiday World is a theme park with exciting rides.

Inland Gran Canaria is well worth exploring with its stunning scenery and charming old villages. Jeep safaris to Mount Tejeda are an ideal way to explore the island.

Meloneras Nightlife

Meloneras nightlife is fairly low key reflecting the resort’s popularity with families and couples. Many of the hotels provide in-house entertainment. An evening at the Casino where you can see the Legends Cabaret Show is a very popular event. It is a slick show with talented artists which can be followed by a holiday flutter at the roulette wheel or the gaming tables.

Meloneras Shopping

One of the attractions of shopping in Gran Canaria is that goods are virtually tax free and there are many opportunities to spend a few euros in Meloneras. If a wider choice of shops is desired, take a trip to Playa del Ingles where The Yumbo Centre in the Avenida de Espana and the Kasbah in the Plaza del Teide have a wide variety of fashion boutiques and specialist shops. The Indian Bazaar is a good place to look for holiday souvenirs. The San Fernando Market is on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Popular purchases include embroidered linens and handmade lace, leather goods, ceramics and jewellery.

Meloneras Eating

Meloneras has a good number of restaurants serving a diverse menu, including international cuisine. Fish features prominently on menus often accompanied by mojo, a spicy pepper salsa, and salted potatoes. A good way to sample Spanish food is to order a plate of tapas which consists of a medley of bite-sized dishes. Tapas are also ideal for filling the sometimes long gap between lunch and dinner, which is served later in the Canaries than at home.

Children are always made very welcome in restaurants and their tastes and portion sizes are usually accommodated.
