Bahia Feliz Introduction

Bahia Feliz is a purpose built resort on the south coast of Gran Canaria. It is an attractive holiday village reminiscent of Moroccan architecture. It is a relaxed resort close to Playa del Ingles. A Bahia Feliz holiday offers languid days on the beach, glowing in year-long sunshine and enjoying the many recreational activities available in the resort.

Why Go To Bahia Feliz?

A Bahia Feliz holiday offers warm year round sunshine and a sand and pebble beach with a variety of sports. The resort oozes relaxation from the shady parks and gardens to the squares lined with pavement cafes and restaurants. The south of Gran Canaria has most of the island’s child-centred attractions.

Bahia Feliz has wide appeal. The beach is often breezy and is ideal for surfing. However the sand shelves steeply into the sea so is unsuitable for young children and less confident swimmers.

When To Go To Bahia Feliz

Bahia Feliz is a year round holiday destination having pleasantly hot summers and warm winters.

Bahia Feliz - The Place

Bahia Feliz, on the southern coast of Gran Canaria, is a modern, purpose built resort offering excellent amenities. The resort is the closest to the airport and has a transfer time of twenty minutes. Bahia Feliz is a charming resort where days are spent relaxing in the sunshine. The beach is not one of Gran Canaria’s best, being comprised of more pebbles than sand. The beach also shelves steeply into the water which, combined with the strong tidal currents, making it dangerous for children and less confident swimmers. Owing to the almost constant breeze, it does however offer ideal conditions for surfing and sailing. Families with young children will find the sandy beach at neighbouring Playa del Ingles or San Agustin are ideal for their needs. The ocean around Gran Canaria has perfect conditions for whale and dolphin spotting and for big game fishing where it is possible to catch blue marlins weighing hundreds of pounds.

There is a good range of holiday accommodation, restaurants catering for most palates and shops for essential provisions as well as gifts and souvenirs.

Golfers will find an eighteen hole golf course close to the sand dunes in a nature reserve beyond Maspalomas.

Many of the islands attractions are found in the south of the island and include the very popular Aqualand. With over thirty slides including the Anaconda and the Tornado it appeals to both children and adults alike. Also within a 10 minute drive of Bahia Feliz is the carting track (the longest in Spain), Sioux City and the Casino Palace. Holiday World is a theme park with exciting rides.

Inland Gran Canaria is well worth exploring with its stunning scenery and charming old villages. Jeep safaris to Mount Tejeda are an ideal way to explore the island.

Bahia Feliz Nightlife

Bahia Feliz nightlife is very laid back being as relaxed in the evening as it is by day. The larger hotels provide some entertainment, but evenings are generally spent wandering through the pretty town or along the promenade enjoying a meal or a drink. Those wishing for livelier evenings can take a bus or a taxi to Playa del Ingles where bars, clubs and discos party until dawn.

Bahia Feliz Shopping

Bahia Feliz has minimarkets for essential provisions as well as gift and souvenir shops. One of the attractions of shopping in Gran Canaria is that goods are virtually tax free and there are many opportunities to spend a few euros in neighbouring Playa del Ingles. The Yumbo Centre in the Avenida de Espana and the Kasbah in the Plaza del Teide have a wide variety of fashion boutiques and specialist shops. The Indian Bazaar is a good place to look for holiday souvenirs. The San Fernando Market is on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Bahia Feliz Eating

Bahia Feliz has a number of bars and restaurants serving a diverse cuisine. If greater variety is desired, take the bus to neighbouring Playa del Ingles where there is food to accommodate every taste. The international cuisine ranges from pizza and pasta to Chinese and fast food burgers. The many tapas bars provide welcome sustenance in the long hours between lunch and dinner. Traditional fish restaurants, with their fresh produce simply prepared are not to be missed.
