Once the residence of the Doge Donà, this 14th century palazzo, underwent a three year period of extensive restoration when the Hotel Donà Palace reopened in 2004. The facade conserves the original inset windows with their filigree arches known as quadrifore. The splendour of the marbles and woodwork were left untouched to preserve the charm and the characteristic arhitectonic details. The result is a beauty, purely Venetian, which can be glimpsed in many of the older builidng on the city's canals. Here for centruies prominent Venetian families manifested their wealth with lavish ornate palazzi.
