Benidorm - The Place
Benidorm is a bustling resort full of life and high spirits. The old fishing village, hard to find as it hides among the high rise hotels, has narrow cobbled streets with small white houses clustered around the blue domed church. There are four miles of golden beaches including Poniente which is fairly quiet and Malpas, a small beach near the port. Care must still be taken when swimming as there are some strong under currents. Be sure to observe the life guards flags and only swim when the green flag is flying. There is a wide variety of water sports and opportunities for boat hire. The very exciting sport of cable water skiing is available at Rincon de Loix where speeds of sixty kilometres an hour can be reached. A submarine can be taken to Benidorm Island, a conservation area three kilometres out into the bay, where the clear waters enable the visitor to see the teeming marine life.
The Terra Mitica theme park, based on ancient civilisations, is a popular attraction with its thrilling rides. Aqualandia, the water park with daring slides, also attracts large numbers of visitors of all ages. At Rincon de Loix, Mundomar the marine and exotic animal park has dolphins, sea lions and penguins, as well as birds and other small creatures. With bars, restaurants and shops galore holiday makers will find all they need in Benidorm.

As in all coastal resorts in Spain there are many beach, gift and souvenir shops. There is an outdoor market on Wednesdays and Sundays in the town centre and a flea market in El Cisne every Sunday. Traditional local handicrafts such as wickerwork, ceramics and leather goods, as well as a wide assortment of souvenirs and trinkets are widely available.
