Teletext holidays were, at one point, one of the best ways to find a cheap holiday deal, particularly in the 1980’s and 90’s. Many offers were advertised, but the idea of having to scroll through literally thousands of offers until you found one that took your fancy was a bit time consuming.

There were, however, plenty of great deals to be found, and teletext was very effective for finding good family holiday deals. Many tour operators, including first choice capitalised on this and advertised their deals on there.

Towards the end of the 20th century with the emergence of the internet, things all of a sudden became much easier to do. You didn’t need to push hold on every teletext page before it moved on, you could search for whatever holiday deals you wanted and book them in confidence from the comfort of your computer chair.
