Durham Tees Valley Airport (MME)

Durham Tees airport is situated six miles from the city centre of Darlington in the North East of England. The airport started as an RAF base in 1941, and was then turned into an RAF aerodrome. The base was made available for civil use in 1964 and was given the objective of becoming the main commercial airport for the area. £1.4 million was spent redeveloping the airport in order to make it suitable for commercial passengers before it reopened in 1966. Currently the airport has roughly 50,000 passengers pass through each year and flies to more than 25 destinations.
