Sidari
Sidari Introduction
Sidari lies towards the west on the northern coast of Corfu. It is almost forty kilometres from Corfu Town and has a transfer time of ninety minutes. Originally a small fishing village, Sidari has expanded and now includes Canal D’Amour a village to the west. Sidari has a long sandy beach as well as two smaller beaches and a number of coves. A Sidari holiday offers days of sunshine by the sea with a wealth of recreational facilities, good restaurants and a supply of gift and souvenir shops.

Sidari - The Place
Sidari is a popular resort on the north coast of Corfu that has grown from a small fishing village into a vibrant fun-loving tourist centre. The soft sand of the main beach stretches around the bay and slopes gently into the sea providing safe bathing for children and weak swimmers.
The other beaches are near the harbour in the east and the Canal D’Amour to the west. The Canal D’Amour is a popular attraction with its unusual rock formations and sheltered inlets. For more energetic holidaymakers, there are a wide number of water sports available from the beach. Tavernas, bars and shops line the waterfront offering day long refreshments. The bars and pubs, restaurants, music bars and clubs combine to provide a lively nightlife that suits all ages and tastes. There are many pleasant walks along the cliffs, as well as inland, where you can explore traditional villages that have remained unspoiled by tourism. A regular bus service goes to Corfu Town and there are excursions from the harbour to Paxos and Erikoussa.

Sidari Nightlife
Sidari nightlife is very lively with a large number of bars and clubs remaining open until dawn. Karaoke is very popular and the music bars play an eclectic mix of music. There are many sports bars screening live events.
Sidari has a variety of shops providing holiday essentials as well as gifts and souvenirs. The island is noted for the craftsmanship of its jewellers and has some excellent gold and silver jewellery shops. Popular buys are leather goods, items made from olive wood, handmade lace and embroidered linens. Brightly painted ceramics are also in demand.
Sidari Eating
Sidari restaurants and tavernas cater for every taste and pocket. There are fast food outlets and English style pubs for the less adventurous palate. Many tavernas serve traditional food and a large number of restaurants provide international cuisine.
If you wish to sample local cuisine, try a plate of tapas, where you are given small portions of a variety of dishes. Popular dishes are small fried fish, shellfish and kalamari. A delicious dish is ‘pastitsada’, a Corfiot lasagne with layers of meat, tomato, herbs and spices, pasta and béchamel sauce. Tempting snacks in the form of souvlakis, a type of kebab, are sold from fast food stalls. For a more substantial snack these are sometimes wrapped in pita bread and called gyros.
Local wines are easy on the palate as well as the purse.
Eating in Corfu is meant to be a pleasure and is not to be rushed. Waiters will not hover over you waiting to remove plates. Don’t mistake this for tardy service.
