Poor Weather Leads To Surge In Holiday Bookings
Posted on 27 July 2007
Recent poor weather in the UK has led to a surge in late bookings for overseas holidays. Holidaymakers have been keen to escape the recent downpours which have caused flooding in many parts of the UK.
Most operators have reported significant increases in bookings in recent weeks, bringing a welcome boost to the overseas travel market. Despite early predictions of a record hot summer, the reality has been one of the wettest summers on record.
And holidaymakers have been keen to escape to the record temperatures currently being experienced in the popular Mediterranean resorts. Paul Riches, sales and marketing director of accommodation supplier Youtravel said, "All the tourist boards predicted one of the hottest summers, I would love to know what they are saying now."
With the poor weather in the UK showing no signs of abating, travel companies hope to benefit from the resultant increase in demand as the public seek to escape to warmer climes.
