Hurricane Dean is heading towards the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, having caused significant damage in Jamaica. The Jamaican government has declared a state of emergency after the hurricane’s 75mph winds disrupted power supplies.
The hurricane is expected to pick up strength as it approaches Mexico, with its force expected to reach a Category Five storm, the highest category.
The Cayman Islands and Belize are also bracing themselves as the hurricane moves towards Mexico, where it is expected to hit the coast late on Monday.
