Easyjet To Charge For Checked In Baggage

Posted on 08 August 2007

No frills airline Easyjet has announced that it is to charge for all checked in baggage. The charge will be £2 per item if paid in advance or £5 per item at the airport.

The charges will take effect for bookings made from Friday 10 August 2007 for flights travelling on or after 1 October 2007. The maximum hold baggage per customer will remain at 20kg.

An Easyjet spokesman claimed the move would encourage passengers to check in less luggage, improving operational performance at airports, and charging the cost of checking in luggage to those customers requiring that service.

Rival no frills airline Ryanair already charge £5 per checked in bag.
