British Behaviour Abroad
Posted on 06 August 2007
The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office have released a report entitled 'British Behaviour Abroad' that contains some startling findings.
According to the report British Tourists are at their most badly behaved in…..Prague. Apparently a huge rise in the number of stag and hen parties visiting the city means that the British Embassy in Prague is receiving an ever increasing number of night time phone calls from tourists asking for help after losing their passports, money, and even their clothes. The Embassy regards such incidents as 'easily avoidable' and charges £80 an hour for dealing with them outside normal hours.
Between April 1 2005 and March 31 2006 the Czech Republic was the country where British tourists were most likely to need consular assistance, with 445 Britons losing their passports, closely followed by 391 in Greece, despite Greece receiving three times as many visitors.
The report highlights the need for tourists to make sure they behave responsibly whilst on holiday, since the person who usually suffers the most from any mishap is themselves.
