Hotel Overview
As its name suggests, the Schoolhouse Hotel Dublin, dating back to 1861, was once a school and many of its original features have been maintained. The scholarly theme is evident throughout the hotel with little touches such as the silent please in class signs instead of the usual do not disturb. William Morris style bedrooms are furnished to a very good standard with an arts and crafts feel to them. Each room is named after an Irish writer or artist and contains a corresponding photograph and brief history of the individual. The bar and restaurant are the former classrooms and with the high ceilings, wooden beams and original fire place are truly atmospheric and popular venues in their own right. A quaint, intimate hotel with lots of character located approximately ten minutes walk from Grafton Street.
