The village was originally built on the site of an ancient Venetian harbour and today it offers the islands main marina. Gouvia is also one of the most beautiful seaside suburbs of Corfu Island and is just 4 miles from Corfu town. The surrounding landscape offers pine forests, vineyards wild flowers and orchids whilst the nearby beach is a mixture of pebble and sand.
